国産ジーンズの始まり The beginning of Jeans made in Japan
１９６０年頃の日本は高度経済成長期を迎え、人々の生活に徐々に余裕が出てきました。当時の映画に映る著名人たちのジーンズ姿に若者は魅了され、国内でもジーンズの需要が上がると見込まれるものの国産ジーンズの質は高いものではありませんでした。
Japan came into high economic growth in 1960 and people became to have enough luxury on their lives. Teenagers were fascinated by the celebrities appearing on the movies at that time which were wearing jeans. The demand of jeans in the country were expected to become higher ,but the quality was not high enough.
岡山 児島 Okayama Pref. Kojima
言うまでもなくジーンズにとってデニム（生地）は欠かせない存在です。その為、日本のジーンズメーカーはアメリカから生地を輸入することが通常でした。
しかし、岡山児島は江戸時代から続く綿織物の産地で、アメリカ産に負けない生地作りを目指すため地元企業が続々と立ち上がりました。
Not to mention, denim is necessary for making jeans. For that reason, Japan usually bought denims from America. However, Okayama,Kojima was production area of cotton from Edo period and many local businesses raise their hands for making cottons which has high quality as in America.
